One of Fashion's Thinkers
Overview
One of Fashion's Thinkers is an animated infographic I designed on Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe, centered on his philosophy of making as thinking. Every visual element, typography, figures, and graphic motifs, was designed to carry meaning about his practice, so the visuals reinforce the text rather than just accompany it.
Process
Visual Language
I designed every graphic element to reference Watanabe's own work rather than decorate around it. The walking figure's silhouette is drawn from one of his runway looks, with the words "fashion show" and "Paris" arranged within it to form the garment. The concentric rings framing the eye are adapted from a circular form in his collection, brought into the piece as an original visual element.
